Abstract

This teaching tip explores the use of Yellowdig, a social learning platform, as an effective tool for combating isolation and building community in asynchronous courses. By resembling familiar social media interfaces, Yellowdig fosters dynamic, organic conversations among students, encouraging them to engage with both the course content and their peers. This platform promotes note-sharing, collaboration, and the exchange of study tips, enhancing students’ learning experiences and helping them feel more connected. This tip outlines the implementation process, demonstrates the positive impact on student engagement, and discusses how Yellowdig can transform an online course into a supportive, interactive learning environment.
